What is RSA Keys?

An RSA key generator for testing and development: produce a public/private pair and download each half as a PEM file.

How it works

crypto.subtle.generateKey creates the pair; SPKI (public) and PKCS#8 (private) exports are base64-wrapped into PEM.

  1. Enter your input. Type or paste your input into the field above — the tool responds instantly.
  2. Review the result. Output updates live as you type. Everything runs entirely in your browser.
  3. Copy or download. Use the Copy button to grab the result, or Download to save it as a file.

Examples

Development key pairs

Generate a 2048-bit RSA key pair and export both keys as PEM for testing and development.

Common mistakes

Key size trade-offs

2048 bits is the current baseline; 4096 is slower to generate and use but offers a wider security margin.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the private key live?

It's generated and exported in your browser and never transmitted — but you're responsible for storing it securely.

Is this safe for production?

Fine for development and testing; production key management should use a proper HSM or secrets manager.
