What is Compare Text?

A text diff tool: paste the original and changed versions to see exactly what was added or removed, with counts.

How it works

The diff library computes line-level changes, and changed hunks can be expanded to word or character granularity for finer detail.

  1. Enter your input. Type or paste your input into the field above — the tool responds instantly.
  2. Review the result. Output updates live as you type. Everything runs entirely in your browser.
  3. Copy or download. Use the Copy button to grab the result, or Download to save it as a file.

Examples

Spotting changes in drafts

Paste two versions of a document side by side and see the differences highlighted — at word or line granularity.

Common mistakes

Whitespace-only differences

Trailing spaces and line-ending changes can flood a diff with noise. A whitespace-ignore toggle filters those out.

Frequently asked questions

What diff algorithm is used?

A Myers-style line diff with word-level refinement for precise, readable highlights.

Can I export the comparison?

Yes — copy the unified-style diff text for sharing or tools.
