What is Divergence?

Divergence measures how much a vector field spreads out from a point: positive where the field acts like a source, negative where it converges like a sink, zero where it is incompressible.

How it works

Each component is differentiated with respect to its own coordinate and the three partials are summed. The components are full expressions, so the same grammar and the same engine as the derivative pages are in play.

  1. Enter your input. Type or paste your input into the field above — the tool responds instantly.
  2. Review the result. Output updates live as you type. Everything runs entirely in your browser.
