Parallel Line Calculator
Find the equation of the line parallel to a given line through a point.
What is Parallel Line?
Parallel lines never meet, which in coordinate terms means they have exactly the same slope and different intercepts. So the whole problem is: keep m, solve for the new b through the given point.
How it works
The engine derives the reference line's slope, reuses it unchanged, and computes the new intercept from your point with b = y₁ − m·x₁. Vertical reference lines stay vertical — 'the same slope' there means the same undefined slope, so the parallel is x = c through the point — and both lines are drawn on the same plane because the picture is the proof they do not cross.
