Point-Slope Form Calculator
Write a line as y − y₁ = m(x − x₁) from a point and a slope.
What is Point-Slope?
Point-slope form writes a line as y − y₁ = m(x − x₁) using one point on the line and its slope. It is the form you reach for when you know a slope and a point but not where the line crosses the y-axis, because it needs no separate intercept calculation — the point is already in the equation.
How it works
The slope and the anchor point are substituted directly into y − y₁ = m(x − x₁), with the signs folded into the brackets (a negative x₁ becomes x + |x₁|). The same engine call also rearranges the line into slope-intercept and standard form, so the conversion students usually do next is already done.
