What is Antipodes?

Every point on Earth has an antipode: negate the latitude and add 180° to the longitude. Most antipodes land in the ocean — only about 15% of land has land opposite.

How it works

Latitude is negated, longitude is rotated 180° and normalised to ±180°, the distance is half the meridian (π × 6371 km ≈ 20,015 km), and the UTC offset difference follows from longitude / 15.
