Divisibility Checker
Test whether one number divides another, with the remainder shown.
What is Divisibility?
One number divides another when the division leaves no remainder, so the two are is-the-remainder-zero questions rather than a fact about factors. Divisibility is the raw material of fractions, factors and modular arithmetic, and the short digit rules — divisibility by 3 from the digit sum, by 4 from the last two digits — are still the fastest way to check by hand.
How it works
The integer quotient and remainder are computed together, so the general case is answered as n = divisor × quotient + remainder and divisibility is just the remainder being zero. Both outcomes earn a useful answer: a divisor that works gives the quotient as a whole number, and one that does not gives the nearest multiple and the gap, which is what a modular-arithmetic question actually needs.
