What is Hash Generator?

A text hashing tool. Pick an algorithm and type or paste text to instantly get its hexadecimal digest, ready to compare against known values.

How it works

SHA-family digests are computed with crypto.subtle.digest; MD5 uses a small bundled implementation because Web Crypto deliberately excludes it.

  1. Enter your input. Type or paste your input into the field above — the tool responds instantly.
  2. Review the result. Output updates live as you type. Everything runs entirely in your browser.
  3. Copy or download. Use the Copy button to grab the result, or Download to save it as a file.

Examples

Quick integrity check

Hash a password or message with MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, or SHA-512 to get a fingerprint — or to compare against a known digest.

Common mistakes

Fast hashes aren't for passwords

SHA-family hashes are fast, which makes them wrong for password storage — use bcrypt or Argon2 for that.

Frequently asked questions

Which algorithms are supported?

MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512, and SHA-3 variants.

Is my text uploaded?

No — hashing happens locally in your browser.
