What is Rubric Score?

A rubric scores each criterion separately and then combines them, which is what makes it useful feedback. The arithmetic is not hard, but the weighting is easy to get wrong by hand: when criteria carry different point values, the total percentage is earned points over available points, not the average of the criterion percentages.

How it works

Points are summed per criterion and the percentage is total earned divided by total available, so a 40-point content criterion correctly counts four times a 10-point presentation one, with no separate weighting step. Earned points are clamped to what was available, so a typo cannot produce a mark above 100%, and each criterion gets its own percentage bar for feedback alongside the overall grade.
