Keystrokes per Minute Calculator (KPM)
Convert a keystroke count and a time into keystrokes per minute, with the WPM it implies.
What is KPM Calculator?
Keystrokes per minute is the measurement underneath words per minute and the more honest of the two: a word count depends on how long the words were, while a keystroke is a keystroke. It is the figure to train against for text where a "word" is not a meaningful unit at all — code, spreadsheets, formulas, anything bracket-heavy — because those are typed with far more modifier and punctuation keys per word.
How it works
Total keystrokes are divided by the elapsed time, and the reciprocal is reported as milliseconds per keystroke, which is the number that actually predicts what a text will feel like to type. KPM divided by five is offered as the words-per-minute equivalent, with the assumption spelled out: it only holds when every keystroke produced one correct character, so a run with hundreds of backspaces or modifier presses has a much lower WPM than that division suggests.
