What is K8s Validator?

A structural validator for Kubernetes YAML: it checks required fields (apiVersion, kind, metadata.name) and flags kinds or API versions outside the common set.

How it works

Each document is parsed with js-yaml and checked against bundled lists of common kinds and API versions; custom resources trigger warnings, not errors.

  1. Enter your input. Type or paste your input into the field above — the tool responds instantly.
  2. Review the result. Output updates live as you type. Everything runs entirely in your browser.
  3. Copy or download. Use the Copy button to grab the result, or Download to save it as a file.

Examples

Pre-flight manifest check

Validate a Deployment or Service manifest for required fields, correct apiVersion, and common misconfigurations before applying it.

Common mistakes

Not a cluster admission check

This validates structure and common rules locally; it can't enforce your cluster's policies or webhooks.

Frequently asked questions

Which resource kinds are checked?

Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, Ingresses, and Pods get the deepest checks; other kinds are validated generically.

Does it check apiVersion correctness?

Yes — deprecated or invalid apiVersions are flagged with the version to use instead.
