What is Helm Merge?

A Helm-style values merger: combine base and override documents with deep-merge semantics where nested maps merge and scalars/lists are replaced.

How it works

Documents are parsed with js-yaml and merged pairwise with Helm semantics: objects deep-merge, everything else is overwritten by the later document.

  1. Enter your input. Type or paste your input into the field above — the tool responds instantly.
  2. Review the result. Output updates live as you type. Everything runs entirely in your browser.
  3. Copy or download. Use the Copy button to grab the result, or Download to save it as a file.

Examples

Layer merging for Helm

Merge a base values.yaml with environment-specific overrides — deep keys combine instead of being replaced, matching Helm semantics.

Common mistakes

Shallow replace vs deep merge

A naive merge overwrites whole subtrees. This tool merges nested maps so an override only changes the keys it specifies.

Frequently asked questions

How are lists handled?

Lists are replaced wholesale (Helm behavior), not merged element-wise — the tool documents this in the result.

Can I merge more than two files?

Yes — stack any number of layers; later layers win on conflicts.
