What is YAML Merge?

A general YAML merge tool: paste multiple documents and get one output with deterministic deep-merge semantics.

How it works

Documents are parsed with js-yaml and merged pairwise: plain objects deep-merge recursively; scalars and arrays are replaced by the later document.

  1. Enter your input. Type or paste your input into the field above — the tool responds instantly.
  2. Review the result. Output updates live as you type. Everything runs entirely in your browser.
  3. Copy or download. Use the Copy button to grab the result, or Download to save it as a file.

Examples

Combining config fragments

Merge two YAML configs so environment overrides layer onto a base without clobbering unrelated keys.

Common mistakes

Conflict resolution

When both files define the same key, the merge order decides. The tool highlights every conflict it resolved.

Frequently asked questions

Is the merge deep?

Yes — nested maps merge recursively; arrays and scalars are replaced by the later file.

Can I merge more than two files?

Yes — multiple inputs merge left to right.
