Slope-Intercept Form Calculator
Write a line as y = mx + b from two points or a point and slope.
What is Slope-Intercept?
Slope-intercept form writes a line as y = mx + b, where m is the slope — how steeply y changes per unit of x — and b is the y-intercept, the height at which the line crosses the vertical axis. It is the form that reads off both the steepness and the starting value directly, which is why it is the one used for graphing by hand.
How it works
The engine finds the slope (rise over run, or the value you supplied) and back-solves b by substituting a known point: b = y₁ − m·x₁. Vertical lines have no slope and are written x = c instead, which the tool reports rather than printing a broken value.
