X-Intercept Calculator
Find where a line crosses the x-axis from two points or a slope.
What is X-Intercept?
The x-intercept is the point where a line crosses the x-axis, which is exactly where y = 0. Setting y to zero in y = mx + b and solving gives x = −b ÷ m, the x-intercept — the value you need for roots, break-even points and when a projectile lands.
How it works
The engine rearranges the line to solve for y = 0, and the tool reports the intercept as an (x, 0) pair rather than a bare number so the answer reads as a point. Two cases genuinely have no single answer and are explained: a horizontal line at y = k never reaches the x-axis, and the line y = 0 is the x-axis itself.
