Y-Intercept Calculator
Find where a line crosses the y-axis from two points or a slope.
What is Y-Intercept?
The y-intercept is where a line crosses the y-axis, which is exactly where x = 0 — the value b in y = mx + b. It is the line's starting value: the fixed charge in a bill, the height at which a launched object begins, the value of a quantity before anything changes.
How it works
Substituting x = 0 into y = mx + b leaves y = b, so the intercept is computed once from any known point as b = y₁ − m·x₁ and reported as (0, b). A vertical line is the single case with no y-intercept, and the tool says so instead of returning an empty result.
