What is Geohash?

A Geohash is a hierarchical spatial index: each extra character roughly halves the cell size, so a short string names a region and a long one pins a spot.

How it works

Latitude and longitude intervals are bisected alternately, each bit feeding a base-32 character (0–9, b–z minus a, i, l, o). Decoding reverses the bisection and reports the cell bounds.
