What is Plus Code?

Plus Codes (Open Location Code) represent any place on Earth as a string of 2–15 characters from a 20-letter alphabet. Shorter codes name bigger areas; the + separator marks full-length codes.

How it works

Latitude and longitude are quantised on a base-20 grid, interleaved into pairs, and refined digit-by-digit below 10 characters. Decoding reverses the quantisation and reports the cell centre and bounds.
